WATER
PYROHIDE® leather is treated at the tanning stage in the drum to provide the properties that make it one the world's most outstanding performance leathers. One of these performance properties is water repellency including salt water repellency. This technology, originally perfected for leather used in operational military gloves allows gloves made with PYROHIDE® to perform successfully in wet environments without absorbing moisture for prolonged periods and yet still allow the hands to breath.
Gloves made from PYROHIDE® leather remain light weight, warm, grip better and perform at levels far higher than gloves using ordinary untreated leather. Plus gloves that remain dry in wet conditions reduce the risk of scold burns when exposed to hot environments; conditions which are often associated with structural fire-fighting activities.
The short video illustrates the differences between PYROHIDE® (lime green leather) and untreated leather (royal blue leather) when exposed to water under pressure.
