CROSSTECH®
Your head-to-toe protective gear isn't complete without the right glove, a glove with thermal stability, abrasion resistance, and superior liquid penetration resistance - performance features critical to the firefighter. W.L. Gore & Associates has been providing glove barriers to the fire glove industry since 1981 and their expertise in barrier technologies is well recognized. They have the unique capability to mix and blend laminate technologies according to very specific needs or desires. Numerous membranes and lamination processes bring independent and characteristic performance distinctions to each of Gore's final products.
Southcombe Brothers only use Gore inserts to provide liquid penetration resistance in their range of products and have since it's launch in 1994 been proud to offer the next generation of glove membranes in the form of the CROSSTECH® glove insert. Sandwiched in a 3-layer glove
construction - lining, barrier, and Pyrohide outer shell - the CROSSTECH® glove insert gives users a highly abrasion-resistant, water and blood-born pathogen proof barrier.
In testing designed to simulate field wear, gloves with CROSSTECH® glove inserts were put through 25 wash/dry cycles, and emerged without a leak. That's five times better than competitive polyurethane-based products for durable waterproofness and abrasion resistance. They also can withstand 3,000 abrasion cycles of barrier against shell, where most other barriers fail at 1000 cycles. CROSSTECH® glove inserts didn't melt or degrade after high heat exposure to 500ºF for 5 minutes, and they didn't crack or become brittle after exposure to cold. They are precision-sealed using a proprietary, automated GORE(tm) sealing system and have special finger tabs that are stitched into the glove during assembly to eliminate liner pullout during glove donning and doffing. Gloves with CROSSTECH® glove inserts have the highest breathability of any protective emergency response glove on the market. Since moisture in your gloves can escape, your hands stay drier and more comfortable, and your gloves dry out faster between runs.
It took Gore technology to achieve the proper balance between protection and comfort, and make these fire-fighting glove inserts the preferred alternative over other glove barriers. Over the years, fire departments have come to know and trust CROSSTECH® moisture barrier for turnout gear. Today, more and more departments are also demonstrating their trust in CROSSTECH® glove inserts by specifying them in their structural and proximity gloves.
If They Don't Say CROSSTECH® Glove Inserts - They're Not! Choose the proven performance of CROSSTECH® products.
